SecondNest is modeled on HUD Shelter+Care and rapid rehousing best practices. We partner with owners of detached casitas, ADUs, and small motels to create private, safe transitional housing for women and children — backed by case management and career programming.

For applicants

  1. 1Create an account and submit your application.
  2. 2Background check, ID, and sobriety + programming agreements.
  3. 3Case manager pairs you with a vetted private unit.
  4. 4Move in. SecondNest pays your rent for up to 6 months.
  5. 5Attend monthly programming + career/education support.
  6. 6Transition to stable, permanent housing.

For hosts

  1. 1Submit your detached casita, ADU, or motel unit.
  2. 2Background check, safety inspection, separate-entrance verification.
  3. 3Listing is approved and published.
  4. 4Get matched with a vetted family.
  5. 5Receive monthly rent payments directly from SecondNest.
  6. 6Help a family rebuild — no shared rooms, ever.
